Would there be anyone my age who, if asked in a trivia competition ‘What was Mr Dobalina’s christian name?’ would pass?
Doubt it, and you’ve got one man to thank for that, Del Tha Funky Homosapien.
Australian Customs officials didn’t see that name on his passport however (for the record, that reads Teren Delvon Jones), as he arrived down under for a series of shows around the country.
The MC who’s lent his voice famously to the Gorillaz (Clint Eastwood) took to the stage at the iconic Gershwin Room in StKilda’s Esplanade Hotel and proceeded to blow the crowd away with his vocal work and stage presence.
Supported and then joined on stage throughout by friend and fellow MC Bukue 1, this was a high energy gig that delivered on every level. Not being much a of a Hip-Hop fan there wasn’t much to compare it to, but this was a really fun gig that didn’t let up until it’s 1am finish.
In support of his current release, an epic 3-CD set called ‘Golden Era’, Del gave the punters plenty to be happy about, mixing his solo work, collaborations and various other incarnations (Hieroglyphics, Handsome Boy Modelling School, Deltron 3030) in front of the 400 strong Espy crowd.
