Melbourne turned on a stunning spring day as Bundoora Park played host to the 2012 Victorian Cyclo-Cross Championships. What the day lacked in mud, it more than made up for with a great family turnout and carnival atmosphere as riders from Junior, Masters and Elite all attacked the 2.6km circuit hard, given the fast conditions.

The Elite category threw up some amazing performances. In the Men’s, Lewis Rattray recovered from an early dropped chain to slowly peg back Allan Iacoune. Going into the last circuit Iacoune was locked onto Rattray‘s wheel but ultimately couldn’t go with the World Championships representative, with Rattray capping off a stunning comeback to take the title.

In the Women’s, Mel Anset put space on the field on the first lap and was never challenged, taking out the Victorian Championship in convincing style.

A big thanks to the good folk over at the Peloton Cafe for the access!
