Desy Anthonisz & Scott Cameron – 15 Minutes of Peace (Revolver, 13th June 2012)

A chilly Wednesday night in Melbourne, and what better place to be than the warm confines of Revolver’s upstairs live music lounge. Melbourne 4 piece 15 Minutes of Peace hit the stage after two greats local sets – Wolf vs Fire and Cotton Sidewalk. The latter in particular is one of the night’s highlights and more than warrants a visit to their facebook page.

Opening with Higher than The Sun, the new addition of Mark Norton on drums has seen frontman Des Anthonisz again step to the front of stage – always the best place to deliver the vocals for a non-Phil Collins coverband.

By the middle of the set it’s clear that bassist Marek Taborsky and drummer Norton have solid chemistry in the rhythm section. It lets lead guitarist Scott Cameron work freely over the top, but it’s Anthonisz’s strong high register vocal that dominates much of the set. Older tunes The Way and Limelight are set staples and could slot into any radio playlists, though perhaps a T-Pain feature would be needed in the middle 16 of the latter to make it a starter on Fox FM.

The 7 song set flies by, closed out by one of their latest efforts The World Is Watching. The melodies throughout are a feature, with Scott Cameron’s guitar work a standout, and the tunes are most definitely the cause of a Thursday morning ear worm or three.
