About Me

My name is Andrew Briscoe. Most of the time, that’s what people call me.

I play the piano, and probably should be able to play the guitar better than I can. I love music, travel and sport – specifically the Carlton, West Ham United and Melbourne City Football Clubs – and sometimes I take photos.

I began photographing live gigs in Melbourne on a point and shoot panasonic camera. In 1996 I started doing that for the same reason that I continue to do it now: freezing time.

Live music has an undeniable energy, an energy that words alone can’t express. Add a picture of a sweat-soaked frontman, a pain-faced guitarist, or a pensive singer-songwriter to those words, and suddenly you’re there. In amongst it.

Born and bred in Melbourne – one of the world’s great live music cities – I’m lucky to still call it home with family and friends who have little choice but to tolerate my obsession with music, travel, and capturing moments of both.
