Ex-Jam frontman and songwriter Paul Weller made a long time coming trip Australia to promote his quite brilliant 22 Dreams album, and chose the perfect surrounds of Melbourne’s Forum Theatre to start the first of two nights in town. When you’ve got as much material as Weller has to draw from, it must be impossible to come up with a setlist. Somehow though the Modfather managed to choose the perfect mix of old stuff – Jam songs like Eton Rifles and A Town Called Malice – mid 90’s classics like Wild Wood and Broken Stones – and tunes from the current album like 22 Dreams, All I Wanna Do and Empty Ring – all sat perfectly alongside each other.

With a crowd made up of British expats and locals, from 18 to 60, there wasn’t a person in the house who wouldn’t have left in awe of this incredibly talented singer-songwriter.
